Data
Each year at enrolment students provide their address and mode of access to UNSW (specifically Kensington Campus) . The data is provided in the form of an Excel spread sheet by UNSW Business Systems Develpment Services (BSDS). It shows that UNSW students are high users of public transport. Aims
UNSW recognises that sustainable transport access
is essential to maintaining a competitive advantage.
The UNSW Sustainable Transport Program aims to
provide the best public transport system possible
for university students, staff and visitors
promote public transport, cycling and walking
as an alternative to the use of the private motor vehicle.

These aims are furthered through relationships with
student organisations such as UNSW Student Guild & COFASA
Sydney Buses (State Transit Authority)
Randwick City Council and Sydney City Council,
other agencies such as the Ministry of Transport.

History
In the earlly 1990's UNSW recognised the need for improved transport alternatives as the existing buses and other modes were not keeping up with demand. A Transport Program was set up and a Transport Coordinator has operated in Facilties Management since 1998. Mary Bailey currently holds the position following Chloe Mason and Kristine Stanley

A number of documents and activities are important from the historical perspective.
